Understanding Learning Disabilities: How Processing Affects Learning, developed by the York Region District School Board, is a comprehensive resource that was originally designed for educators working with students with learning disabilities (LDs), from kindergarten to grade 12. Referred to as the “waterfall chart”, this resource provides parents with information about how processing affects learning. Parents can skip ahead to their child’s assessed areas of strength and/or need to find strategies to adapt and apply at home or to share with their child’s teachers.

The York Region District School Board also developed a condensed two-page chart for easy reference to the processing areas, definitions, possible signs, strategies and possible assistive technologies relevant to a child’s areas of strength and/or need.

Both charts can act as jumping off points for parent-teacher meetings to better support a child in their learning!
